On  Thursday 25th January 2018, the Morden Cluster Y5/6 Tag Rugby Competition took place at Harris Morden Secondary School. Crisp, bright conditions greeted the competing teams, which was a far contrast to the atrocious weather of the previous day, and this set the stage nicely for some free flowing rugby to be displayed.

A round robin format was played with games lasting a duration of eight minutes. The top four teams qualified for the Borough Finals at Tooting and Mitcham F.C on Friday the 2nd March 2018.

Once again, Abbotsbury were the most consistent team in the competition, winning all but one of their matches, which they drew, against an inspired Benedict side 2-2. Their ability to recycle the ball quickly at the breakdown and keep the ball alive in open space was enough to beat St Teresa’s who were hot on their heels to take the vital top spot.  The way in which our children conducted themselves did us proud.

Well done to all the team and good luck in the finals!
